Damme, 5 km north of Bruges, a medieval town with a historic centre, along a picturesque canal within the wide polder landscapes. What is today a small white book village where visitors come to cycle, walk and enjoy the excellent range of bars, restaurants and charming bookshops, was in the Middle Ages a harbor town where every day up to 700 ships from all over Europe moored. During a two-hour walk we discover the towns’ rich past and the picturesque polder landscape that surrounds it.
Generally a walking tour in Damme takes two hours. Each walk can be extented and sites you really do not want to miss can be included. Each walk can be further personalized according to your interest and background knowledge without any extra charge, making each tour a unique and personal experience.
You can combine this guided tour with a leisurely bicycle ride from Bruges along the canal with its curved poplars. Not in Bruges with your own bicycle? Then you can rent a bicycle for a half or a whole day and also discover Bruges or the polder landscape between Damme and the coast. Feel free to contact us for more details or for a tailor-made trip.
Damme can be reached by slow boat 'Lamme Goedzak' from Bruges between April 1 and November 15.
